Havre police officer Shane Huston was promoted to sergeant at Tuesday's Havre City Council meeting.
Huston's promotion was approved by the city council per a written request from Police Chief Kevin Olson. Huston formerly held the senior patrolman position at the Havre Police Department.

Minutes from the Jan. 2 council meeting were approved.
Mayor Phyllis Leonard proclaimed Feb. 4-10 as Teen Week in Havre.
Annmarie Robinson presented the council with four separate housing project requests for the first time homebuyer program. Projects 77, 78,79, and 80 were approved by the council individually.
The council voted to purchase a home at 122 3rd Ave. W in Havre under the HUD Home for a Dollar program. Tom Bolan of HRDC expressed interest in the use of the property at a later date.
TSEP and EDA drawdown requests to cover the final bills associated with the water main replacement project were approved by the council individually. The TSEP request totaled $85,488.52 and the EDA request totaled $103,829.06.
Craig Erickson updated the council on various CTEP projects for historical preservation. Projects discussed were the Heritage Center
window moderations, the Wahkpa Chu'gn path project, The Havre Ice Dome parking project, the Fort Assiniboine rehabilitation project, the Second Avenue sidewalk project, and the Clack Museum project. The council approved the acceptance of the general agreement and the maintenance agreement for the restoration of a section of the Second Avenue sidewalk.
The council passed Resolution 3341, a resolution adopting a budget in the law enforcement block grant fun of the City of Havre.
Emily Mayer-Lossing gave a Historic Preservation quarterly report. She stated that National Historic Preservation Week will be celebrated on May 13-19.
Dec. 31 pledged securities were approved by the council.
The Finance Committee and Ordinance Committee gave reports on their meetings. A Police and Fire Committee meeting was scheduled
for Feb. 5, at 7 p.m.
