JOHN CHARLES BRYANT SR.
John Charles Bryant Sr., 70, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at a Columbus hospital of cancer. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kenn Green officiating.
Bryant was born in Butte to Dale and Marion Moiser Bryant on Dec. 9, 1930. The family moved to Missoula when he was a young boy. He was schooled in Butte and Missoula, graduating from Missoula High School in 1947.
Bryant served in the Air Force from 1949 to 1953. He was an AP and competed on the track and basketball teams. His posts included Roswell, N.M. and North Africa.
Bryant married JoAnn Faye Morgan in 1952 in Missoula. Heworked for Burlington Northern Railroad while earning his business degree from the University of Montana. Upon graduation, they lived in Miles City, and then moved to Havre in 1962 where he enjoyed many years practicing as a CPA.
He was active in Shrines; Past Exalted Ruler 1990, 1991, 1997, and 1998 for the Elks Club; Lions Club; Ada Band, and the American Legion. He was an avid sailor, golfer, fisherman, hunter, and as a swimmer, he participated in the Senior Olympics. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife in 1994.
Survivors include his son, John C. Bryant Jr. of Kaneohe, Hawaii; daughters, Glenda Pinny of Bend, Ore., Sandra Counter of Columbus, and Cathy Bryant of Havre; brother, Dale of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.
