GLORIA BOYER
CHESTER Gloria Beatrice Boyer, 62, died at a Great Falls hospital Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, of acute respiratory problems.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. this morning at the Chester United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at the Chester Cemetery.
Boyer was born at Vancouver, Wash., April 5, 1938, to Roger and Edna (Showell) Hoover. She moved to Montana with her mother when she was 2-years-old, growing up and receiving her formal education in the Chester community. She received her G.E.D later in her adult life, and was very proud of that achievement.
She married Loyd A. Boyer on May 25, 1955, at Stevenson, Wash. They made their home in Chester, where she was a homemaker and mother. She began working for the Chester school system in 1966 as a kitchen helper and cook. She retired in 1998.
Boyer was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Chester, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served on the local swimming pool board.
Her hobbies and pastimes included knitting, latch-hooking, ceramics, artex painting, playing cards, cooking, reading, bowling, going to movies, watching television, collecting bells and attending her grandchildren's school activities and sporting events.
Boyer was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Loyd Lund, and an infant daughter, Juanita.
She is survived by her husband Loyd of Chester; son Rodney Boyer of East Helena; daughters, Darla Boyer of Redmond, Wash., Lana Boyer of Great Falls and Dana Lalum of Chester; four grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel of Chester.
