MARY SCHUMACHER
Mary Jean Schumacher, 84, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at a
Havre hospital of natural causes.
A memorial celebration of her life will be 2:30 p.m. Friday
in the chapel at Northern Montana Care Center.
Schumacher was born April 16, 1916 to Jacob and Annaliese
(Anderson) Reissinger at the family homestead in Helena. Her
mother died in 1918 and she was placed in the Twin Bridges
Orphan's Home. She was adopted by Christian and Pearl Sonne.
She attended schools in Twin Bridges and Shelby. The family
moved to Williston, N.D. and she finished her education
there, graduating from Williston High School.
In 1934, she married Carl Schumacher and they moved to
Klammath Falls, Ore., where he had a job on the Great
Northern Railroad. They moved to Havre around 1938.
Schumacher was widowed in 1964, but continued to live an
active life in home south of town until her stroke in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Schumacher
in 1964, and her daughter, Laura Jane Stammerjohan.
Survivors include her children, Carl, Paul, Jo and Rebecca;
brother, Clarence Reissinger in Washington state;
grandchildren, Andrew Schumacher of Vancouver, British
Columbia, Canada, and Ben Stammerjohan and Ann Firkins of
Washington state; four great-grandchildren.
