FRED HARSHAW

Fred Ivan Harshaw, 84, died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at a Chinook care center due to cancer.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Easton officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Eagles Club.

Harshaw was born Jan.

6, 1917 in North Dakota to Fred and Emma Harshaw.

He moved to Glasgow for employment and married Mae Riggin in Glasgow in 1939. She died in 1958.

Harshaw went to work for Caterpillar and moved to Havre in 1959. He married Alice Miller Bulman on Nov. 12, 1960 in Havre. He retired from Caterpillar after 25 years with the company and became shop foreman for Hill County for 18 years, until his retirement in April 1984.

Harshaw was a lifetime member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Havre Chapter and enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, carpentry, bird watching and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mae Riggin Harshaw; sons, Richard Bulman and Vernon Harshaw; infant daughter; brother, Tom Harshaw; sister, Ethel Ziegeldorf.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Miller Bulman Harshaw of Havre; daughters, Dee Ann Brese and Annie Bulman of Havre, Carolyn Weber of Great Falls, and Marilyn Cline of Ashland, Ky.; son, Melvin Harshaw of Spanaway, Wash.; brothers, Bill Harshaw and Herman Harshaw, both of Carrington, N.D., and Glen Harshaw of Mansfield, Wash.; sisters, Edna Ross of Cynthiana, Ky. and Flora Stienman of Yakima, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
