VIOLA LAMERE
Viola Marie LaMere, 65, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at her home in Box Elder of cancer.
A rosary service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church, with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial
is to follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.
LaMere was born Feb. 15, 1936 in Havre to Joseph and Marie (LaRocque) Morsette. She was educated at Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, S.D. and graduated from high school there.
She moved with her family to Great Falls, where she met Matthew LaMere. They married on Nov. 15, 1954 in Great Falls. He died in 1995.
She moved to Box Elder in 1996 to be closer to her daughters.
LaMere enjoyed gardening, listening to western music, spending time with her family and playing the keno machines.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Morsette in 1994, and her mother, Marie Morsette in 1993; her husband, Matthew LaMere in 1995; brothers, Tony Morsette in 1988 and Larry Morsette in 1969; grandson, Rory LaMere in 1996.
Survivors include her daughters, Carmelita "Peeps" LaMere, Yvonne "Chine" Rosette, Natalie "Peanut" LaMere, Juanita LaMere and Tracey LaMere, all of Box Elder, and Althea Bear and Shelley LaMere, both of Missoula; sisters, Clara Komestis, Roberta Paul and Elaine Morsette, all of Great Falls, Sylvia Enno of Tacoma, Wash. and Virginia Felder of Denver; brother, James LaRocque of South Dakota; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
