Havre police officers escorted or transported a child from the Havre Middle School Thursday.
Officials would not make much comment about the situation. Havre Police Chief Kevin Olson said a juvenile has been detained and they think they have resolved the issue in an appropriate fashion.
"I feel that the safety and sanctity of the school has been preserved," Olson said.
The Havre Public Schools issued a prepared statement Thursday afternoon, saying "On April 12, Havre Public School personnel and local law enforcement investigated a threat of violence at Havre Middle School.
"School personnel and several community agencies viewed this as a potential threat and impemented a comprehensive plan to address the situation.
"The safety of the students and the staff of Havre Middle School was foremost; therefore, every effort was made to secure the school environment," the statement said. "By midmorning, the incident had been resolved. Parents, students and staff can be assured that school administration is ever vgilant in maintaining a safe environment as evidenced in the past, present and into the future."
