Commissioners have busy week

By Crystal Thompson

The Hill County Commissioners are keeping busy this week and next with a full agenda of hearings, meetings and inspections.

Today, the commissioners will travel around Hill County for their biweekly county road inspection.

On Friday, the commissioners will travel to Great Falls for the MACo (Montana Association of Counties) District 4 and 5 meeting. The meeting will bring together commissioners from nine Montana counties in our region. Commissioner Pat Conway said that the group will be focusing its discussion on the end of the 57th Montana legislature.

Conway said that he expects the majority of the discussion at the MACo meeting will cover House Bill 124, which deals with local government funding and Senate Bill 176, which is a court funding bill. Mick Johnson from the Montana Department of Transportation is scheduled to attend the meeting, Conway said, and elections will take place at the meeting as well.

On next week's agenda, the Hill County Commissioners are scheduled to meet with interested contractors for a pre-bid conference on the Wahkpa Chu'gn Bison Kill Site. This meeting is one step in a process that began in 1992 to improve and develop the pathway through the site. The commissioners, along with the engineer for the project, will walk contractors through the site to give them a general idea of what the job will entail.

The Hill County Commissioners Agenda is published every Friday in the Havre Daily News. To contact your commissioners, call the Hill County Courthouse at 265-5481, ext. 227.
