COLUMBIA FALLS Archie W. Maze, 84, died Friday, May 11, 2001 in Columbia Falls.
Interment of ashes will be follow graveside rites at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Veteran's Cemetery at Fort Harrison.
Maze was born in 1916 to Luther W. and Louise (Jackson) Maze in Fort Benton and
was a Montana resident his entire life. He grew up and lived in the Havre area until 1978 when he retired and moved to the Helena valley.
Maze married Goldie L. Pasma in Havre in 1935.
In his younger years, Maze was a Montana cowboy. He rode in early trail rides across the state and maintained a love of horses throughout his life. His early hobbies were Roman-style chariot races and O-Mok-See events. He worked on the Fresno Dam project in 1936.
Maze served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1944.
For many years he was a popular bar owner and club manager in Havre.
Maze was a life member of Disabled American Veterans and a 60-year member of the Eagles.
Maze was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Merle, Harold and Gordon Maze; sisters, Tamson Noreen and Minnie Simpson.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie Maze of Columbia Falls; children, Lorna M. Mayo and Arla N. Barkemeyer, both of Helena, the Rt. Rev. Larry E. Maze of Little Rock, Ark.; brothers and sisters, Scotty Maze of Joplin, Harvey Maze of Great Falls, Norman Maze of Havre, Eva Ellis of Columbia Falls, Lorraine Fraley of Anchorage, Alaska, Louise Nelson of Hungry Horse, and Audrey Halcomb of Lincoln, Utah;
