CHINOOK Hazel Ovidia Waisath, 88, died Saturday, May 12, 2001 at a Havre care center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Edwards Mortuary in Chinook.
Waisath was born March 1, 1913 in Pigeon Falls, Trempealeau, Wisconsin to John and Selma Lund Fald. She moved with her parents to a homestead 30 miles north of Chinook when she was six and was a live-long resident of Blaine County.
Waisath graduated from Chinook High School in 1933.
She married Herman Waisath on July 30, 1933. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston Alberta Tempel.
Waisath was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as secretary of the Relief Society for many years and as a Sunday school teacher.
She worked for the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home as a cook for 14 years.
She enjoyed making afghans, baby blankets and cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Waisath was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Waisath, who died Jan. 3, 1974; son, Scott; granddaughter, Star Ann Tilleman; brothers, Gerhart "Gay" Fald and Jim Fald; sisters, Sylvia Marsonette and Mary Alverson.
Survivors include her children, Jeanette Huntsman of Willard, Utah, Delores North of Salt Lake City, Curtis Waisath of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, Gaylord Waisath of Kent, Wash., Betty Tilleman of Chinook, Carol Weight of Lehi, Utah, and Boyd Waisath of Grayson, Ga.; 38 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
