Kate Andrews erupts in win over Comets

Kate Andrews rapped out 17 hits, breaking open the game early in a convincing 13-2 win over the Havre Comets in an American Legion baseball game last night at Legion Field.

The Pride roughed up Havre starter Ian Spencer for six runs on six hits in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead.

Kate Andrews drove in a run on five consecutive at-bats in the inning, culminating with Jeff Sparks's two-out RBI single to give the Pride a six-run lead.

Kate Andrews then put the game out of reach with five more runs in the third. Dustin Fujikawa hit a two-run homer that tucked just inside the left foulpole to highlight the inning.

Sparks went 3-for-5 with three RBI, Jeremy Kenyon finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Justin Dairymore also had three hits and drove in a run for Kate Andrews.

Havre scored its two runs in the fifth inning after RBI by Steve Heberly and Cory Junck.

Chris Chandler gave up just two runs in relief for Havre.

HAVRE SPLITS WITH MEDICINE HAT Every Comets batter earned a hit against Medicine Hat in a 9-6 win over the Knights in a doubleheader on Sunday at Legion Field.

Medicine Hat earned a split with a 13-5 win.

In the Comets' victory, Tyler Thompson was 2-for-4, and Ben Mader and Daine Solomon each drove in two runs.

In the Knights' win, Havre's Chandler was 3-for-3, and Spencer and Bobby Bergren both had two hits.

LEWISTOWN SWEEPS HAVRE At Lewistown, the Comets were unable to get un tracked in a 10-9, 10-0 sweep at the hands of the Red Birds.

In the one-run defeat, Spencer, Junck and Tyson Roe all had two hits.

In Lewistown's shutout, Garrett Drake had two of Havre's three hits.
