RICHARD WIEWECK, Obituary

Richard R. Wieweck, 72, died Sunday, June 17, 2001 at a Havre care center of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gift of Life or to one's choice.

Wieweck was born Sept. 6, 1928 in Havre to Alfred and Irene (Williams) Lathrop. He attended schools in Havre and graduated from Havre High School. He worked for Papillo Construction after high school.

Wieweck entered the Marine Corps in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. He returned to Havre and went to work for the Great Northern Railroad in 1949.

He married Devona (Toni) Mahle in 1980 and they lived in Havre. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1988.

He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Club.

Wieweck enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed taking care of his granddaughter and grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a stepson.

Survivors include his wife, Devona (Toni) Wieweck of Havre, son, David Wieweck of Havre; daughters, Christine Baker of Hong Kong and Paula Schafer of Lewistown; stepchildren, Tim Wyant of Swan Lake, and Matt Kurt and Tammy Pozega of Havre; sister, Evelyn Blake of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; stepfather, Al Lathrop of Havre; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
