The Hill County Water District sent letters to suspected violators of the water ban notifying them that they can be fined for each day of violation.
Kim Bunton, district manager, said the letters were sent to people who were the subjects of complaints. Due to low water levels and poor quality, the district restricted watering to hand watering starting June 7.
The letter states that while most of the district's users are following the restrictions, some are allegedly violating it. The district's board advised everyone that $100 can be charged for every day of violation.
Bunton said lifting the restrictions will be discussed at the board's meeting on Aug. 1. He said the water situation for the district is improving.
"Things aren't looking too bad right now," he said.
Bunton said the levels in Fresno Reservoir are going up and the district has been pumping water into its reservoirs again. The water is pretty dirty, he added, but it is starting to settle out both in the district's reserves and in Fresno.
