A secretarial election on proposed amendments to the Chippewa Cree Tribe's constitution and bylaws will be held this fall.
The election, requested by the Tribal Business Committee, will be conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs on Sept. 22 on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation.
The election is open to all members of the Chippewa Cree Tribe who will be 18 or older on the day of the election and who register for the election before Aug. 15.
James Montes, BIA field representative at Rocky Boy, said registration forms can be picked up at his office at the agency or by mail. Mail requests should be addressed to Bureau of Indian Affairs, Rocky Boy's Agency, RR1 Box 542, Box Elder, MT 59521.
The election ballot will include four proposed amendments involving six different sections of the constitution, Montes said.
