CHINOOK Marvin Grubb, 72, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at a Havre care center of cancer.
Vigil service is 7 p.m. today at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gabriel's, followed by burial with military honors in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.
Grubb was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Roundup. He attended schools in Roundup, Missoula and Chinook. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served four years, before returning to Chinook to work on the oil rigs.
Grubb married Shirley Scheck in Chinook on Oct. 18, 1952. He joined the Montana National Guard in 1952 and retired after 36 years in 1988. he worked for the city of Chinook at the water plant and did maintenance work for the Chinook School District and Blaine Bank. He also did building construction for many years in Chinook.
Grubb enjoyed fishing, hunting and, in later years, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Grubb of Chinook; sons, Joe Grubb of San Diego, Jon Grubb of Kalispell and Jim Grubb of Lynnwood, Wash.; daughters, Pam Grubb of Havre, Bette McPherson of Lewistown and Susan Grubb of Puyallup, Wash.; brother, Vance Grubb of Manila, Utah; sisters, Gloria Ann Olson of Helena and Velma Bauer of Ronan; six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Gift of Life Housing in Great Falls or Bear Paw Hospice in Havre.
