Herron wins fair theme contest

Josi Herron's choice for a fair theme will be all over the Great Northern Fair this year.

Herron, daughter of Tim and Lori Herron from south of Havre, submitted the winning entry for the fair's theme, "Fair'n'Fun for Everyone."

All Hill County 4-H club members submitted entries for the theme, and Herron, a member of the Tumbleweeds club, put in the winner.

In addition to her theme being printed on the posters, schedules and advertisements for the fair, Herron said she got some tickets to the fair. Her prize included tickets for rides, the junior rodeo, rodeo and the demolition derby.

The Great Northern Fair runs Wednesday through Sunday.

Herron, who will be a fifth-grader at St. Jude-Thaddeus School this fall, said her favorite thing about

the fair tends to be the animals.

"A little bit about the rides, but I think the lambs and all the animals at the fair (are my favorite,)" she said.

This is the second year Herron has entered a lamb as her 4-H project.

She took grand champion in the lamb category last year, and is entering it again this year. This is her second year in 4-H, and Herron said she likes the organization.

"It's pretty fun. You get to do a lot of activities," she added.

Last year Herron also entered in a food activity, but this year she's concentrating on the lamb category.

The 4-H activities for the fair are already under way this year. Herron, along with all 4-H members with entries, was at the Holiday Village Shopping Center today for the interview portion of the events.
