GREAT FALLS Douglas Ivol Bender, 55, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at a Great Falls hospital of heart failure.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Croxford &

Sons Funeral Home in Great Falls, with burial in the Manchester Cemetery.

Bender was born Dec. 10, 1945, in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Ivol and Elsie Bender.

He was raised in Great Falls and attended Great Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves from 1962-1970, during the Vietnam War. He was a gunner's mate on the USS Jennings City.

Bender married Shiela Irwin in 1967 in Great Falls. he spent his working career as a bodyman in Great Falls and Conrad. He also partnered with his father in Bender's Body Shop in Havre.

Bender was a member of the Moose Lodge, Black Powder Club and Cruz'n Association.

He enjoyed camping, woodworking and cooking.

Survivors include his wife, Shiela Bender of Great Falls; parents, Ivol and Elsie Bender of Havre; daughters, Tammy Bender of Seattle and Tina Bender of Great Falls; son, Marvin Bender of Havre; sisters, Gail Tuss of Granite Falls, Wash., Carol Prindiville of Havre, Debra Krause of DeKalb, Ill. and Cindy Logan of Helena; brother, Lyle Bender of Havre; grandmother, Minnie Bender of Great Falls.
