Obie slips to 31st

Third-round struggles cost Blue Pony

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Havre's Nick Obie, the Class A state golf champion this year, slipped from fifth into a tie for 31st after firing a third-round 82 Monday at the Junior Classic National Finals golf tournament at the University of Michigan Golf Course.

Obie's total score is 225 and leaves him tied with Michael Tobiason Jr. of Wilmington, Del., and John Kelly of St. Louis.

Obie was 1 over par after shooting 72 and 71 in the first two rounds, respectively, but struggled mightily in the four-day tournament's third day. His 82 was better than just eight other golfers in the 64-person event.

Adam Hober of Missoula is stuck in a three-way tie for 53rd with a three-day total of 232. He shot a 79 Monday.

Sunny Oh of Torrance, Calif., leads the girls' competition through 54 holes by two strokes after firing a 3-over 74 on Monday for a three-day total of 217.

Christine Fernandez of Henderson, Nev. was 2 over on Monday and is second with a 219.
