Shoots final-round 72 to climb back
ANN ARBOR, Mich. One day after struggling home with an 11-over-par 82, Havre's Nick Obie got back to normal with a final-round 72 to close out the Junior Classic National Finals golf tournament in a tie for 16th place.
Obie's final tally of 297 tied him with five other golfers and left the Class A Montana state champion 18 strokes behind title winner Blaine Peffley of Lebanon, Pa.
Peffley, who fired a 75 Monday to fall into a tie with Farmington, Utah's Daniel Summerhays after the third round, shot a 1-under 70 to clinch the tournament championship by one stroke over the Utah native.
Adam Hober of Missoula fired an 82 Tuesday and finished 57th with a four-round total of 314.
Sunny Oh of Torrance, Calif. secured a four-stroke victory in the girls' event with a final score of 290. She never trailed following any of the tournament's four rounds.
