WANDA JONES, Obituary

MALTA Wanda Diane Jones, 62, Malta, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, of cancer.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Malta Lutheran Church.

Jones was born on Aug. 5, 1939, in Scobey to Irvin and Ann Halverson. She grew up on the farm 15 miles southwest of Peerless and attended six years of school at Prairie Dell Country School. She graduated from Scobey High School in 1958 and enrolled at Northern Montana College in Havre that fall. She worked for Dr. Drinkwater, DDS, and at First National Bank in Havre.

She married Jess Delmar Jones on Sept. 24, 1960, in the Scobey Lutheran Church.

Jones was employed by the Phillips County Conservation District in Malta for 27 years. She was a 4-H leader for 19 years and rodeoed with her daughter for 11 years. She played in a competitive whist league and in whist tournaments throughout northeastern Montana.

She enjoyed her summer vacations and visits back to Daniels County.

Jones was preceded in death by her parents in 1992 and a niece, Leslie Ann Doll, in 1968.

Survivors include her husband, Jess Jones; sons, Wade and Jason Jones; daughter, Shyla Greytak; brother, Marlen; sister, Louise; nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the annual memorial whist tournament.
