Hill County Electric Cooperative and Triangle Telephone Cooperative hosted a grand opening Friday to showcase a remodeled wing of its building as well as a new addition.

The new addition consists of 16,000 square feet added to the previous 13,500 square feet. "The additional space has been a welcome improvement for the employees of the cooperative" said John Magyar, general manager of the cooperatives.

Maygar said 400 people signed up to attend the open house but as many as 500 to 550 people showed up. The open house had tours, food and demonstrations.

"We had a safety demonstration and 150 people were watching on really how deadly power could be," Maygar said.

Employees also got to ride in a cherrypicker.

A highlight of the open house was a tour of the mechanical room, Maygar said. People got to see the new ground source heat pump.
