Northern celebrates Native American Week

The Sweetgrass Society and Montana State University-Northern are holding a celebration Tuesday for Native American Week.

Angelina Smith of the Sweetgrass Society, MSU-Northern's Native American cultural club, said members of the club will dance at the celebration, which starts at 10:30 a.m. in the Student Union Building. The dancers also will talk about their dances and the meaning of the dances, and Bobby Murie of Rocky Boy will talk about Native American history, tradition and culture.

Members of MSU-Northern's administration, including Chancellor Alex Capdeville and Provost Roger Barber, will attend the celebration, Smith said.

The university is also providing a lunch after the celebration, with Indian tacos served by the Sweetgrass Society.
