Havre junior varsity and middle school teams successful at Malta meet

The Havre High junior varsity cross country team traveled to Malta Saturday to compete in the Malta Invitational.

Bethany Long from Wolf Point won the event with a time of 20:12. Emily Kostelecky placed eighth for Havre, followed by Gwen Courtney in 18th and Audrey Sprinkle in 24th. Kostelecky's time was 23:23, Courtney's 25:12 and Sprinkle's 26:39. Due to illness, Havre did not have enough runners to make a full team. Thirty-five runners competed in the race.

The Havre Middle School cross country team also competed in the race. The middle school team brought 19 runners, five in the top 10. Havre won the event with 26 points. Poplar was second wtih 33 and Frazier third with 93. The middle school race had 51 total runners.
