TURNER Linnie O. Cornell Jr., 68, of Turner, died at his home of natural causes on Monday, Nov. 19, 2001.
Funeral services will be held Friday at the Turner School gym at 1 p.m. Burial is to follow at the Turner Cemetery.
Linnie was born May 15,1933, the third son of Linnie
Oscar and Mary (Stansberry) Cornell at Malta. He was raised at the Trine Community south of Malta until he was 3. His family moved to the Strater Community east of Malta. He attended the Strater School and Malta High School. He was a member of the Malta National Guard for 11 years.
Linnie moved to Havre in 1952. He married Nedra (Bengtson) in 1955. They later moved to Turner to farm in 1962, which was his life ambition. He continued farming until retiring in 1994 when they moved into Turner.
He belonged to the Turner Hogeland Lions Club, the Turner Lutheran Church, and was an avid sportsman as long as his health allowed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Otto and Nettie Bengtson; brother, Charles Cornell; nieces, Debbie Cornell, Mary Verploegen; nephew, Mark Verploegen; brothers-in-law, Porter Bengtson and Tony Verploegen.
Survivors are his wife of 45 years, Nedra Cornell; sons, Doug (Betty) Boyce of Havre, David (Teresa) Cornell of Hogeland, Dan (Joan) Cornell of Sun River, Don (Connie) Cornell of the family farm at Turner, Dennis (Debbie) Cornell of Chinook, Dale (Kim) Cornell of Harlem; daughters, Darlene (Ron) Nelubowich of Consul, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Deanna (Leon) Cornell Lodge of Havre; brothers, James (Maryona) Cornell of Loma, and Leo (Helen) Cornell, Larry (June) Cornell, Robert (Margaret) Cornell, all of Malta; sister- in-law, Oral Verploegen of Pensacola, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Turner/Hogeland Lions Club, the Turner Lutheran Church or charity of one's choice.
Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
