CHINOOK Ruth Olive Wilson, 92, Chinook, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at a Havre hospital after complications from a stroke.
Cremation has taken place and no memorial service is planned.
Ruth was born June 8, 1909, in Elbow Lake, Minn., to Paul and Flora (Briggs) Kessel. As an infant, the family moved to a homestead 15 miles south of Dodson. She got her education at a country school, where she was known as the fastest kid in school. She like to cook and garden. She cooked at various sheep ranches in Phillips and Blaine counties until 1944, when she married Webster Loyal Anderson. They had one daughter and two sons. Webster passed away in 1950. She later married Major B. Wilson. They were divorced in 1969. She was married to Roy A. Wilson in 1970. Roy passed away in 1993.
In the later years, before retirement, Ruth worked as a janitor for Chinook High School. She loved her grandchildren and she was a very important part of their growing up. Ruth loved to crochet and was well known for her beautiful afghans. She took great pride in her yard and up until her first stroke in August 2001 was constantly working in her garden and flower beds. She was an excellent cook.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Kessel; mother, Flora Kessel; brother, Philip Russel Kessel; sisters, Lillian Mae Kessel and Lulu Rose Curtis.
Survivors include her sisters, Pearl Morris of Great Falls, Dorothy Ernst of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; daughter, Rose (Chuck) Hewitt of Lincoln, Neb.; sons, James (Connie) Anderson of Lincoln, Neb., and Robert (Debra) Anderson of El Paso, Texas; numerous step-children, seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
