Havre wrestlers defeat Lewistown

Wrestling in their first of two dual meets this busy week before Christmas break, the Havre High Blue Ponies took to the road to face Lewistown.

No rest for the weary may have been the motto going into Tuesday's meet with Fergus as both teams competed in the CMR Holiday Classic, which ended Saturday. Havre placed third overall in the Classic and Lewistown placed 18th.

Behind pins by Greg Leyba, Chad Hedges, Chad Zuelke, Garrett Hanson and Mike Schnittgen, the Ponies cruised to a 52-27 dual meet win over the Eagles.

Leyba pinned Levi Scotson in 2:37, Hedges pinned Paul Stelmack in 45 seconds, Zuelke pinned Mark Schwameyer in 4:29, Hanson pinned Matt Humphries in 1:14, and Schnittgen pinned Sheldon Gerhardt in 4:35.

K.P. Fisher won his match by decision 11-3 over James Irish.

For the Eagles, Jason French pinned Kevin Velk in 5:38, Chase Musick pinned Cory Heggen in 11 seconds, Phil Rinaldi pinned Kyle Lammerding in 4:51, and Chris Scotten won by decision over Paul Reishus.

Havre was forced to forfeit one match at 119 pounds. Lewistown forfeited matches at 105 pounds, 112 pounds and 145 pounds. Lewistown also was penalized one team point for an unspecified reason.

Havre is home Thursday to face Glagsow in a dual meet scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
