Christmas Day dinner organizers are ready

The organizers of the Community Christmas Dinner think the Christmas season has taken on a special significance this year.

"Christmas is a time for giving and sharing. It takes on special meaning this year because our way of life as a free people has been threatened. It is more important than ever to show that we are a caring and compassionate people," Bob Sivertsen, one of the dinner's organizers, said.

The dinner, with turkey and all the trimmings, starts at noon Tuesday, Christmas Day, and lasts until 3:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club in Havre. Sivertsen said anyone who walks through the door will be served.

Home deliveries will be made to anyone who can't make it to the dinner. Reservations for delivery can be made by calling the Senior Center at 265-5464 before 5 p.m. on Friday.

Sivertsen said he and the other organizers want everyone to enjoy a great holiday season.

"We are ever mindful of those who lost loved ones these past few months, and the military from around the world who are combating terrorism and won't be home for Christmas," he said. "Our thoughts and prayers will be with them and their families."
