Havre splits pair of matches

Paced by Jayla McPherson's eight kills, the Havre

volleyball team earned a 15-4, 15-6, 15-3 sweep of Browning

in a Central A triangular at the Havre High gym Saturday.

The win came shortly after the Central A's first-place

team, Lewistown, overcame a first-game setback to defeat the

Ponies 13-15, 15-5, 15-6, 15-8.

After the triangular Havre is 3-6 in the Central A and 8-11

overall.

Against Browning, Havre's Sam Velk had 14 assists, Laura

Hedstrom had five digs and Nikki Grant had four aces and a

block.

LaShae Michels had seven kills and 23 digs against

Lewistown, and Amy Ranes added six kills, two blocks and two

assists for the Ponies.

Also for Havre, Velk had 17 assists and Sara Suek and Grant

each had two aces.

Lewistown's Lindsay Garcia, the league's top kill machine,

had 18 against the Ponies, and Amie d'Autremont and Ammie

Smith each had nine.

In the other varsity match at the triangular, Lewistown

defeated Browning 15-5, 15-2, 15-1.

Havre will head to Windy City Classic next weekend before

hosting the Central A Divisional tournam
