HARLAN MORGAN
CHINOOK Harlan S. Morgan, 89, died of natural causes
Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 at a Havre hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the LDS
Church in Chinook. Graveside services will be held at the
Alice Nash Memorial Cemetery at approximately 2 p.m.
Saturday.
Morgan was born May 28, 1911 to Merle and Floy (Westover)
Morgan in Wilbur, Wash. His family moved to Blaine County
when he was a child. He spent his early years on the family
ranch.
Morgan joined the Army First Special Service Force during
World War II and served in Italy and France. After the war,
he returned home and married Lucy Sanford on Jan. 20, 1947.
He worked for the Blaine County Road Department for 25
years. He and was an active member of the LDS Church and
enjoyed working on the Church Welfare Farm.
Morgan was an accomplished fiddle player. He played for
local dances and later with the Kitchen Band sponsored by
the Chinook Senior Citizens Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Morgan, who died
on Oct. 26, 1995.
Survivors include his sons, Ralph Morgan of Virginia Beach,
Va., Harlan Morgan Jr. of Bozeman and Lee Morgan of Dallas,
Texas; daughters, Darlene Rutledge of Helena, Claudia
Warrick of Rigby, Idaho and Melody Maloney of Pocatello,
Idaho; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
