EDWIN FREIER
Edwin "Ed" Freier, 77, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 in Apache Junction, Ariz. of natural causes.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Easton officiating. A reception and jam session will follow at the church. Private burial will take place in
Highland Cemetery at a later date.
A celebration of his life was held Feb. 28 at the Rancho Mirage Community Center in Apache Junction, followed by a jam session.
Freier was born Feb. 5, 1924 in Box Elder to John and Mathilda (Philippi) Freier. He was educated there and graduated from Box Elder High School. He served in the Army in World War II.
Freier married Viola Bostic on Dec. 19, 1944 in Havre.
Freier was a contractor for more than 35 years. He retired in 1983 and began spending his winters in Apache Springs.
He was a member of Van Orsdel United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing the harmonica, reading and sending e-mail to family members. He had his entire family home for a reunion in July 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers John, Ruben, Arthur, Adolph and Otto.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Freier of Havre; daughters, Sandy Carrier of Spokane, Wash., Donna Brewer of Bellevue, Wash., Diane Dolven of Whitefish, Sheryl Burstock of Havre and Janet Donoven of Kremlin; son, Steven Freier of Havre; brothers, Herb Freier of Havre and Donald Freier of Billings; sister, Anna Shelstad of Espanola, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
