Havre set to host state bantam tourney

With familiar ice under their skates, the Havre bantam hockey team will get a shot at winning a state title this weekend at the state bantam hockey tournament at the Ice Dome.

Havre, the tournament's fourth seed after finishing the league season with a 6-4-2 record, is the second seed in the red pool.

However, Havre is joined in the pool by league champs Butte, which steamrolled through competition during the regular season and is a strong favorite to claim the state crown.

Havre opens its run at the championship Friday with a 6:45 p.m. meeting against fifth-seed Missoula.

Havre will play twice Saturday, meeting with Gillette at noon and Butte at 6:45 p.m.

Other teams competing in the tournament include Whitefish, Gallatin Valley, Bozeman and Helena.

Havre team members include Ben Erickson, Chazz Hurlburt, Mark Larson, Corey Stremcha, Jordan Patterson, Josh Morse, Michael Anderson, Matt Strissel, Levi Briese, Zach Musson, Tyson Anderson, Andy Hanson, Ernie Fuglevand, Josh Strissel, head coach Gary Stremcha and assistant Gabe Musson.
