Chinook falls victim to tire-slashing spree

By Alan Sorensen

Chinook Police are investigating several complaints of vehicles with slashed tires received since Sunday evening.

The first complaint was called in at about 11 p.m. Sunday. Then, a Chinook car dealership employee reported Monday morning that multiple tires were slashed on 10 vehicles parked in the dealership lot.

Chinook Police reported receiving calls that at least one tire on 13 other vehicles parked in Chinook had slashed tires. The total of slashed tires from those calls was 20.

Officers on patrol Monday reported finding the two more damaged tires that had not been called in by their owners.

Personnel with the Chinook Police Department ask that people finding slashed tires on their vehicles call the incidents in so the damages can be included in the police investigation reports and report records.

Officers are looking for information regarding suspicious activity that may be related to the slashings. Information about anyone who might have been walking through the alleys along Indiana and Pennsylvania avenues could be relevant.

The Chinook Police Department phone number is 357-3170.
