Lammerding places ninth
SALT LAKE CITY Paced by Shanna Lammerding's ninth-place finish in individual play, the Montana State University-Northern golf team placed fourth overall at the Westminster Invitational tournament last weekend at Wingpointe Country Club.
Northern finished with a team total of 1,170 strokes, 155 more than tournament champion Rocky Mountain, which dominated the field with a team total of 1,015.
The Skylights were certainly competitive with the remaining schools, trailing second-place California State-Monterey Bay (1,145) and Western Montana (1,156).
Lammerding recorded a final-round score of 85 to finish the three-round tournament with a score of 264.
Albertson's Jenni Rodwell won the individual title with a score of 234, 14 strokes better than Rocky Mountain's Sarah Hamilton.
Northern's Kaycee Link and Theresa Newman placed 18th and 19th, respectively with scores of 291 and 293. The Skylights' final representative, Ristina Johnson, finished with a 322.
Wingpointe is a par-72, 6,096-yard course.
