Stone Child College graduation exercises slated for gym Friday

Former Miss Indian Nations Elizabeth Olney will give the commencement address at Stone Child College Friday.

Olney, a Havre High School graduate and member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, is pursuing a career as a medical doctor.

The graduation exercises will begin at 1 p.m. in the Stone Child College Gym on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation with 28 students earning degrees or certification.

Ten students will graduate in the associate of arts program: Crystal Day Child, Noreen Day Child, Mary DeBerry, Natalie Demontiney, Michael Mithlo, Gerri Lynn Murie, Lisa Russette, Paulette M. Standing Rock, Nicole Stiffarm and Chasidy Jeren Wolf Child.

Fourteen will graduate from the associate of science program: Thela Billy, Nicole Brown, Yvette Brown, Melinda Demontiney, Joseph Demontiney, Richard MacDonald, James Murie, Leona Oats-Swan, Dave One Spot, Linda Parker, Jeremy Saddler, Theodore St. Pierre, Andrew Windy Boy, Sr. and Trina Wolf Chief.

Two will earn one-year certificates in office technology: Clarence J. Ameline and Dawn Sangrey.

Two who will be awarded honorary degrees in Native American Studies are Nadine Morsette and Charles Gopher.

The graduation will be followed by a picnic.
