Havre student-athlete Tyler Croft, a key element on the Blue Ponies' state champion swim team and also the school's tennis team, has been named to the U.S. Navy Scholastic All-America swimming and diving team.
Croft earned second-team honors in the illustrious group, which includes just 54 high schoolers nationwide representing 26 states.
The U.S. Navy will present Croft with a plaque honoring his achievement. In addition, members selected to the team will be featured in the May 14 issue of ESPN The Magazine.
To be nominated, a student must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. He or she must also be a senior in both academic and athletic standing and be a participant in a program that benefits the community.
The National High School Athletic Coaches Association name five other All-America teams for football, basketball, soccer, softball and track and field.
The U.S. Navy Scholastic All-America program, launched during the 1999-2000 academic year, is the largest of its kind in the nation.
