JUDITH PFEIFER, Obituary

ENCAMPMENT, Wyo. Judith Rae Pfeifer, 55, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001 due to cancer.

A family funeral was held Monday at Encampment Presbyterian Church. A public memorial service was held Monday at the United Methodist Church in Rawlins, Wyo.

Pfeifer was born Oct. 21, 1945 to Ray and Vivian Ladendorf in Minot, N.D. She graduated from Model High School in Minot and attended LBI Bible College in Minneapolis. She returned to North Dakota and earned her LPN.

She met Dwight C. Pfeifer while living and working in Rugby, N.D. They were married on April 7, 1967.

Over the years, they owned and operated newspaper businesses in Bowbells, N.D., Malta and Havre (The Bear Paw Sentinel). She earned an associate degree in medical transcription at Montana State University-Northern while in Havre.

In 1987, the Pfeifers started new careers in stock brokerage. They lived in Bottineau, N.D. and then moved to Rawlins. She worked at the hospital there.

The Pfeifers retired four years ago and began wintering in Arizona and traveling extensively.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, volunteering and spending time with her family.

Pfeifer was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Beatrice Thimes-Ladendorf; father, Ray Ladendorf; stepmother, Agnes Ladendorf.

Survivors include her husband, Dwight Pfeifer of Encampment; children, Anngela Pfeifer of Denver, Thomas C. Pfeifer of Anthem, Ariz., and Sara Kersten of Rawlins; three grandchildren; brother, Thomas Ladendorf of Minot; sister, Ina O'Neil of Ellsworth, Wis.; an uncle and cousin; mother-in-law and special friend, Orella Olson of Malta; several sisters- and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
