Northern Montana Head Start's Policy Council sponsored a children's carnival on Friday, May 11 at the Student Union Building (SUB) on the MSU-Northern campus in Havre.
About 130 area children enrolled in Head Start programs in Havre, Chinook and the Joplin and Inverness areas came out for a day of fun games and activities. Activities included a fish pond, balloon shave, bowling, basketball and more. Probably the biggest attraction was the inflatable bouncing room that sat on the grass outside the SUB.
Prizes, toys and candy were available to the many children who arrived by bus to take part in the activities. A fun time was had by many, according to the carnival's coordinator Stacy Lanier. Many local volunteers donated their time to help out at the carnival, including many Head Start parents.
Lanier said that the council has talked about having another carnival in the future, but that it will be up to the members of next year's council to get it organized.
