County Commissioner Pat Conway announced this morning that a burn ban will be in effect in Hill County as of Friday, June 1 at 12 noon.
Conway said that the commissioners reached the decision after much discussion with people in several areas of the county. He said that drought conditions are severe enough to warrant the ban in Hill County, as most areas continue to report severe drought stress.
The ban encompasses all open burning, with no exceptions, and will remain in effect until Hill County receives sufficient moisture to allow the ban to be lifted. Conway said that Beaver Creek Park will remain open to the public, however no fires of any kind will be allowed.
