RICHARD RICHARDSON, Obituary

Richard "Dick" Ledger Richardson, 63, died Monday, June 11, 2001 at a Havre hospital from complications due to diabetes.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Rowlie Hutton officiating. Food and fellowship will follow the service.

Richardson was born May 22, 1938 to Jerry and Caroline J. "Carrie" (Labing) Richardson in Havre. He attended Lakeview Country School north of Havre and graduated from Havre High School in 1956. He attended Northern Montana College for one year.

On Aug. 7, 1960, he married Gail Acher in Chinook. They lived in Glasgow and Chinook before settling in Havre. They later divorced.

Richardson sold insurance and sewing machines and worked on numerous ranches and farms north of Havre.

On July 30, 1981, he married Rita Toth at the First Lutheran Church in Havre. He later owned and operated The Shoe Shop, selling Redwing Shoes in downtown Havre. He ran the shop for 27 years until his health forced him to sell it in 1996.

Richardson was an elder at Fifth Avenue Christian Church and a member of the Hill County Republican Party.

He enjoyed visiting family and friends, doing leatherwork, and being active in both Bible studies and politics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Richardson in 1975 and Caroline "Carrie" Richardson in 1994, and an infant sister, Jerryann in 1939.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Richardson of Havre; daughter, Laurie Anne Richardson of Baltimore, Md.; brother, Gerald "Sam" Richardson of Seattle, Keith Richardson of Havre and Ken Richardson of Shelby; mother-in-law, Myra Toth of Havre; a niece and nephew and an aunt in Canada.
