Six local youths claimed first place in their respective divisions at the Hershey State Track Meet last weekend at the Havre Middle School track.
Chinook's Morgan Obie placed first in the 200 of the girls' 13-14 division, and Chinook's Ralea McMaster also added a first-place finished in that division with a win in the standing long jump.
Chester's Lindsey Oraw was first in the 400 in the girls' 11-12 age group, and Jacque McMaster of Chinook placed first in the standing long jump in the same division.
Moses Poolaw of Box Elder won the softball throw in the boys' 11-12 division, and Shane Kemmer of Havre won the softball throw in the boys' 9-10 age group.
All six athletes qualified for selection to the Region 3 team consisting of athletes from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Montana, British Columbia and the Yukon.
Times and distances from the event winners of each state or province in Region 3 will be compared, and a team consisting of the top athletes will represent the region at the North American Final Aug. 9-12 in Hershey, Pa.
