Police have charged a Havre man with fabricating a report about a robbery to police.
Shannon Womack, 23, was charged Friday with making a false report to law enforcement officers, a misdemeanor, Havre police said.
Police said Womack called 911 on June 27 and said a man had robbed him at gunpoint in his home. He said he had returned from a walk to a gas station and the gunman was in his bedroom when he got home.
Womack said he gave the gunman $300 he had hidden under the cushions on his couch, officers said.
After looking for a gunman for a while, police decided that Womack had made up the incident because the information he gave police didn't add up, police Capt. Mike Barthel said.
