ANACONDA Elsie Shandorf, 73, died at her home in Anaconda Thursday, July 19, 2001, after an extended bout with cancer.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Anaconda. A rosary service was scheduled for this afternoon with vigil services at 7 p.m. today at the KT Riddle Funeral Home-Anaconda Chapel. Cremation has taken place and private placement of ashes will take place at a later date.
Shandorf was born on Jan. 8, 1928, to Walter and Delia (McGeever) Sweeney in Anaconda. She was raised in the same house where she raised her family and died. She attended St. Peter's Grade School and graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1946.
Shandorf worked at St. Ann's Hospital and then received her LPN license. She then worked at Galen State Hospital for 27 years and retired in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Delia Sweeney; her brother, Walter Sweeney; her son, Tim.
Survivors include her son, Dan Shandorf of Havre; daughters Donna Huseby of Hamilton and Kim Butler of Anaconda; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nephews and many friends
Memorials may be made to The Anaconda Pintler Hospice, Discovery House, Our Lady of the Rockies or to a charity of the donor's choice.
