Havre golfer sits nine strokes out in Junior Classic
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Havre's Nick Obie fired a second-round 71 and is tied for fifth place overall after two rounds at the Junior Classic National Finals at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
Obie, who opened play Saturday with an even-par 72, is nine shots off the pace at 143. Blaine Peffley of Lebanon, Pa. is first with a 134, four strokes ahead of second place Daniel Summerhays of Farmington, Utah.
Adam Hober of Missoula, the only other boys golfer from Montana, is tied for 60th with a 153.
Helena's Darah Newell is tied for 41st in the girls' competition with a 175. Sunny Oh of Torrance, Calif. leads the girls by two strokes with a score of 143.
The 72-hole tournament continues today and concludes Tuesday.
