Havre broke a hot record Wednesday.
Aug. 22 was the 49th day this summer Havre has reached a temperature exceeding 90 degrees. The previous record was set in 1936, with 48 days over 90 degrees through the entire summer.
Dave Bernhardt, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said the count starts June 1 and runs through the end of August.
Today's temperature also is forecasted to be above 90 degrees.
Havre's average temperature for the summer has been the highest in the town's history. Bernhardt said that as of Wednesday the average temperature was 88 degrees.
Havre has recorded 10 days above 100 degrees since June 1. The record high was set in 1936 with 113 degrees. Havre's warmest day this summer was 109 degrees.
Bernhardt said the average temperature since Oct. 1 is about 46 degrees, about two degrees above normal. A small fluctuation is not out of the ordinary, he said. The average temperature since Oct. 1 doesn't place in the top 10 warmest average temperatures in Havre's history.
One reason Havre has seen so much heat this summer is because of the dryness, Bernhardt said. The ground doesn't have any moisture to absorb the heat, so the heat stays on top of the ground, heating up everything around it.
