Tamayo Harada, 83, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at a Chinook nursing home of natural causes.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Havre, with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the church.
Harada was born Aug. 20, 1918, in Taylorville, Idaho, to Tsurukichi and Tsune Morishita. She received her elementary education in the Osgood, Idaho, area and graduated from Ammon High School in 1936.
She married Thomas T. Harada on April 16, 1940, in Havre.
She worked for the Sacred Heart Hospital from 1949 to 1957. She then took a job as secretary to the president of Northern Montana College (MSU-Northern). While working at the college, she completed courses for her business administration and education degrees. She graduated in 1966. She retired from the college in 1980.
Harada was active in many organizations, including Business and Professional Women, American Association of University Women, the Democratic Party, Community Concert, American Association of Retired Persons and the Bear Paw Retired Teachers. She was a former member of the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church and a current member of First Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed working in her yard.
Harada was preceded in death by her parents, Tsurukichi and Tsune Morishita, and husband, Thomas T. Harada.
Survivors include her son, Richard "Rick" (Pam) Harada of Havre; brothers, Sadao Morishita of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kenzo Morishita of Bountiful, Utah, Leo Morishita of Sparks, Nev., and Yutaka Morishita of Idaho Falls; one granddaughter.
