Havre boys independent cross country team places eighth

The Havre Boys Independent Cross Country team placed eighth with 222 team points in the Flathead Invitational Cross Country Meet Sept. 8 in Kalispell.

"We were up against some very tough competition and did very well," Havre Boys Cross Country coach Ron Watson said.

Top team honors in the meet went to Flathead with 29 points followed by North Central (Spokane) with 31 points. Missoula Loyola placed third with 122 points, Whitefish fourth with 125 and Browning fifth with 157 points.

"Every one of our guys (got a personal record)," said Watson. "They have been going above and beyond what is expected."

Top finisher for the Havre boys was Garett Watson in 19th with a time of 16:32. His teammate Jeff Sprinkle placed 24th with a time of 16:44.

Other Havre finishers include 39th place Kasey Barsotti with a time of 17:16, Evan Olson 68th in 18:32 and Andy Meyers 72nd with a time of 18:40.

The Havre boys will be in Cut Bank this Friday, meet beginning at 4 p.m.

The K-G boys also participated in the Flathead Invitational. Aaron Smith led the Kougars with a time of 16:07. Justus Wendland finished in 17:11, Deven Donoven in 17:32 and Thomas Marshall in 19:10.

Top five finishers at the meet were Kurt Michels of Flathead in 14:41, Caleb Ambrose of Flathead in 15:25, Matt Larsen of North Central in 15:37, Bryce Worley of North Central in 15:42 and Brian Thorne of Flathead in 15:48.
