Havre's Social Security representative of 27 years has retired and now the Social Security Administration hasn't decided whether the office should have another full-time employee.
The office is being staffed with a Social Security representative from Great Falls on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
"We need to assess the needs of the community before we make a permanent decision, and this will go on indefinitely," said Jim Capp, acting manager for the Social Security office in Great Falls.
Donna Knudson, who retired after 27 years with the agency, said that she thinks the Hi-Line still needs a full-time employee.
Knudson said she had 10 to 20 clients a day while working in Havre, and some of her clients came from as far as 90 miles away. She also had clients from the Rocky Boy's and Fort Belknap reservations.
"I have made alot of friends in the public offices, and on the reservations, and I will miss all of the people very much," Knudson added in an interview last week.
