The Havre Boys Independent Cross Country team snagged three of the top ten individual positions at the Cut Bank meet this past weekend.
"(Havre) ran a competitive third place," said
Havre coach Ron Watson. "The neat thing was having three runners in the top ten placings
that's something none of the other teams had."
Whitefish went on to take first in the meet with 58 points followed by Browning with 62. Havre finished with 102.
Garrett Watson and Jeff Sprinkle ran tied for 6th and 7th with a time of 16:42. Kasey Barsotti placed 10th finishing in a time of 17:12.
"Everyone (got a personal record) on this course," said Watson. "The entire team is coming on strong."
Other finishers for Havre were Evan Olson, 32nd, with a time of 18:07 and Ryan
Gilbreath, 48th, with 19:14. Andy Meyers was out due to a chest cold.
In preparation for a large Missoula meet this weekend, hosting tough teams such as Flathead and Mead (Spokane), the Havre boys continue to turn up the heat.
"We ran nine miles on Monday," said team member Watson. "We usually run about seven but we want to turn up the intensity a little. Other than that we will pretty much be doing everything we've been doing."
