Edward O. "E.O." Larson, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at a Great Falls hospital of natural causes.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brad Ulgenes and the Rev. Olaf Borge officiating. Burial is to follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
E.O. was born May 11, 1922, to Oscar C. and Alice Jane (Wilson) Larson at Rockdale, Wis. His family moved to Havre to homestead. He attended school at Rockdale Elementary, Cottonwood School north of Havre, and Havre High School. He graduated from Havre High in 1940.
E.O. was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in various locations during World War II.
On March 29, 1951, he married Donna E. Cornella at Shelby. He owned and operated a farm north of Havre and worked for the Great Northern Railway, first as a brakeman and then as a conductor. He retired from farming in 1973 and from the railroad in 1985.
E.O. was active in the Masonic Lodge #55, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1201 and the First Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed his family, friends, coffee with his buddies and politics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Jane Larson; brother, Jack Larson, in 1998; an infant granddaughter, Gahbrielle Courtney, in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Donna E. Larson; daughters, Patti Solomon of south Havre, Debbie D'Hooge of Havre, and Joenne Courtney of Avon, Ill.; son, Robert E.O. Larson of Bozeman; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
