The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team traveled to Great Falls last night to take on newly formed Frontier Conference rivals, the University of Great Falls Argos.
The Skylights were looking for revenge after losing to the Argos at the Town House
Invitational Tournament earlier this year.
The Argos started out strong, nearly taking game one from the Skylights 32-30. Game two was all Argos as they defeated Northern 30-20, but the Skylights came back strong to win the next two games 30-26 and 30-19.
Northern earned its first conference win with the victory and improved to 5-6 overall.
Janelle Gillies, Lyndi Hostetter and Stephanie Lanfear each had two aces to lead the Skylights. Lanfear also led the team with 16 of the team's 53 kills.
Gabrielle Chambliss led the team with 46 assists and Andrea Knox added 10 blocks. Hostetter finished with the team lead in digs.
Courtney Metzler led the Argos with 20 kills, followed by Nadine Moncks with 10. Stephanie Smith and Janet Austin each finished with nine. Brook Rasby led Great Falls with 46 assists.
The Skylights next game is Sept. 28 and 29 at home against Western Montana College and Montana Tech, respectively.
